Venue: Greek Theatre - Taormina

On August 25, 2025, at 9:30 PM, the enchanting Ancient Theatre of Taormina will host one of the most anticipated events in Taormina 2025: the ballet Juliet and Romeo by the Balletto di Roma, with choreography and direction by Fabrizio Monteverde and music by Sergei Prokofiev. An unmissable event for dance and theatre lovers, set in the magnificent backdrop of the Greco-Roman theatre.

Juliet and Romeo in Taormina 2025: the dance of impossible love

The show Juliet and Romeo is one of Balletto di Roma’s most successful productions, with over 400 performances and more than 250,000 spectators. In Monteverde’s vision, the Verona of Shakespeare’s doomed lovers becomes a dark and dusty southern land, scarred by war and on the verge of revolution. Juliet is both the protagonist and the victim of a youthful, mad rebellion, fleeing from an imposed female condition and driven to suicide by an unacceptable love. Romeo, silently passionate and recklessly dreamy, is a martyr to his innocent belief in love.
