Etna and Wine Tour from Catania

Description

This guided tour of Mount Etna from Catania offers a complete experience, from visiting volcanic areas to panoramic walks, to tasting local wines.

After meeting the guide at the agreed-upon location, you will have the opportunity to reach Rifugio Sapienza at an altitude of 2,000 meters, with a few stops along the way to admire the beauty of the Etna landscape.

During the tour, the guide will tell you about the history of the volcano and its territory, describing the ancient and recent lava flows that have involved the slopes of Etna and the Silvestri Craters.

At Rifugio Sapienza, you can choose between two options:

• Follow a hiking trail with the guide without exceeding an altitude of 2,000 meters
• Buy the Etna high altitude tour. With the cable car service offered by the Funivia dell'Etna, in just 15 minutes, you will reach an altitude of 2,500 meters, from where you can admire a spectacular panorama surrounded by the sea and the significant lava flows that have marked the landscape of Etna. With the assistance of Alpine Guides (in Italian and English only), you can learn about the areas where the energy of the volcano emerges in total safety and complete compliance with regulations. At the end of the excursion, you will take the means of transport back to Rifugio Sapienza.

The tour will continue with a visit to a lava flow cave wearing helmets and carrying torches, a unique experience to get a closer look at the volcanic activity of Mount Etna.

Finally, we will visit one of the best local wineries to taste sparkling wine and four glasses of typical wines from the area, accompanied by a platter of local salami, cheeses, paté, and oils.
