Guided hike through the craters
The experience takes place on the northern side of Mount Etna, at an altitude between 1,600 and 1,800 metres. You will enjoy a guided hike through dormant craters, ancient lava flows and unique endemic vegetation. The route is approximately 3 km (round trip) and lasts about 1.5 to 2 hours. Throughout the walk, a certified naturalistic guide will explain the volcanic phenomena and the extraordinary ecosystem of Etna.
Visit to a volcanic cave
After the hike, you will visit a volcanic cave (lava tube), equipped with helmets and headlamps provided on site. Your guide will explain the origin and characteristics of this fascinating underground world. Please note that the cave may not be accessible during winter due to snow conditions.
The itinerary and duration may vary depending on weather and volcanic conditions. The guide reserves the right to adjust the route for safety reasons.

Is this tour suitable for children and elderly people?
Yes. The tour is designed to be accessible to all ages and fitness levels. The hike is approximately 3 km round trip on relatively easy terrain, with no technical sections. Children and elderly participants are very welcome.

Do I need hiking boots?
We recommend wearing comfortable closed-toe shoes such as trainers or hiking shoes. Sandals are not suitable for the volcanic terrain. If you do not have appropriate footwear, please let us know in advance and we will do our best to assist.

Where will I be picked up?
Pick-up is included from Taormina, Castelmola, Giardini Naxos and Letojanni. After booking, you will receive details about your specific meeting point and pick-up time. If you have your own transport, you can also meet the guide directly on Mount Etna at a reduced price of €55 per person.

What happens if the weather is bad?
Safety is our top priority. If weather or volcanic conditions make the tour unsafe, the itinerary may be adjusted. In exceptional circumstances where the tour cannot take place at all, you will be offered a full refund or an alternative date.

Will the volcanic cave always be accessible?
The lava cave is a highlight of the tour but may not be accessible during winter due to snow and ice inside the tunnel. The guide will always inform the group about conditions on the day.

What should I wear and bring?
Wear comfortable, season-appropriate clothes and closed-toe shoes (trainers are fine). Bring a bottle of water, sunblock and a light jacket — temperatures on Etna can be significantly lower than in Taormina even in summer. Basic equipment is provided on site.

The guide speaks English and Italian. French, Spanish, Polish and German are also available upon request — please mention your preferred language at the time of booking.
