Etna
-
Description
A full sensory experience combining the volcanic landscape of Mount Etna with the finest wines of one of Italy's most celebrated wine regions.
This tour takes you to the northern side of Etna, where ancient lava flows and fertile volcanic soil produce some of Sicily's most distinctive wines. You will explore the volcano on foot, visit a traditional winery and enjoy a guided wine tasting paired with local Sicilian products.
Guided hike through the craters
The day begins with a guided hike on the northern slopes of Etna, through dormant craters, ancient lava fields and endemic vegetation. Your certified naturalistic guide will explain the volcanic phenomena and the extraordinary ecosystem that makes Etna a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Visit to a volcanic cave
You will visit a volcanic cave (lava tube), equipped with helmets and headlamps provided on site — a fascinating underground experience that reveals the hidden face of the volcano.
Winery visit and wine tasting
The highlight of the afternoon is a visit to a traditional Etna winery, where you will discover the story behind Etna DOC wines and the unique influence of volcanic soil on the vines. The experience includes a guided tasting of selected local wines paired with typical Sicilian products as part of a light lunch.
The itinerary may vary depending on weather and volcanic conditions. The guide reserves the right to adjust the route for safety reasons.
