Excursion to Mt Etna and Alcantara from Taormina

Tour from Taormina around Mount Etna with a stop at the Alcantara Gorges and a full exploration of the volcano.

Departure by bus with tour leader, our first point of arrival is the Alcantara Gorge, where we make a short stopover. The Gorges of the Alcantara river are formed from solidified basalt and are quite impressive. You can walk along the bed of the river by paying an extra ticket.

We then continue by bus towards Rifugio Sapienza, our base for exploring the volcano.

Then reaching 1,900 meters. Stop with the possibility of soft trekking for visiting the most recent lava flows and the Silvestri craters, now extinct. Lunch is extra.

Optional ascent by cable car up to 2,500 meters and continuing by off-road vehicles to the main craters area at approximately 2,800 meters with the assistance of licensed guides of the CAI (Italian Alpine Club). Stop to admire the eventual activity of the summit craters in the area of security.

Your tour will conclude with transportation back to Taormina.

NB: During winter minimum of 12 people. There is a possibility of cancellation after confirmation if there are not enough passengers.
