The Godfather Bus Tour from Taormina | Castello degli Schiavi & Savoca
Castello degli Schiavi - Savoca
-
Description
Join this group bus tour of The Godfather filming locations from Taormina and step into the world of one of the greatest films ever made. Every Thursday, a comfortable air-conditioned coach departs from Taormina and its surroundings for an unforgettable journey through the real Sicilian villages that Francis Ford Coppola chose as the backdrop for his legendary trilogy.
This shared group excursion offers an accessible and affordable way to discover the authentic Sicily hidden behind the big screen — with a professional multilingual guide leading the experience from start to finish.
Castello degli Schiavi — The Corleone Residence
The tour begins with an exclusive visit to Castello degli Schiavi, a stunning 18th-century Sicilian baroque villa in Fiumefreddo di Sicilia. This private estate served as the on-screen residence of the Corleone family and appeared in several of the most memorable scenes of the saga. The guided visit includes access to the Well, the Flag Room, the Dungeons, the Noble Chapel, and the Farmer's Room — areas not accessible without a guided tour. Guests also have the rare opportunity to sit in Francis Ford Coppola's original director's chair and have their portrait taken.

Savoca — Bar Vitelli and the Wedding Church
The tour continues along the breathtaking Ionian Riviera to Savoca, a beautifully preserved hilltop village officially listed among Italy's Most Beautiful Villages. Coppola chose Savoca to represent Corleone — the fictional hometown of the Corleone family — because of its authentic medieval character and timeless Sicilian atmosphere.
In Savoca, the guided tour covers:
- Bar Vitelli — the iconic bar where Michael Corleone asked Apollonia's father for his daughter's hand in marriage, still decorated with original film photos and memorabilia
- Church of Santa Lucia (San Nicolò) — where Michael and Apollonia's wedding was filmed
- The Coppola monument — a sculpture dedicated to the director in the village square

Optional activities in Savoca include a light trekking walk through the historic center and a visit to the Capuchin Catacombs, where a fascinating collection of mummified monks and nobles dating back centuries is preserved.
Return to Taormina in the early afternoon, with memories of one of cinema's most iconic sagas — and a deeper appreciation of the real Sicily that inspired it.
