Excursion to Mt Etna and Alcantara from Taormina

Description

Departure from Taormina by bus with tour leader, our first point of arrival is the Alcantara Gorge, where we make a short stopover. The Gorges of the Alcantara river are formed from solidified basalt and are quite impressive. You can walk along the bed of the river by paying an extra ticket.

Afterwards visit of the Medieval town of Randazzo with the main Cathedral in lava stone.

Then, proceed by bus via Adrano up to Rifugio Sapienza at 1,900 meters. Stop with the possibility of soft trekking for visiting the most recent lava flows and the Silvestri craters, now extinct. Lunch is extra.

Optional ascent by cable car up to 2,500 meters and continuing by off-road vehicles to the main craters area at approximately 3,000 meters with the assistance of licensed guides of the CAI (Italian Alpine Club ). Stop to admire the eventual activity of the summit craters in the area of security.

Your tour will conclude with transportation back to Taormina.
